The moral

Failure does not exist when you choose to draw a lesson from it. Every experience, even painful ones, becomes another brick in building who you want to become.

My perspective on this quote

José DA COSTA

This quote attributed to Mandela changed the way I look at my setbacks. For a long time, I lived my failures as definitive judgments on my worth: a failed project, a lost client, a missed decision left me with that bitter taste of defeat. Then I understood that this binary winner/loser reading was itself a trap. Every time a project doesn't turn out as planned, I now ask myself a simple question: what am I taking away from it? A skill, a lesson, an insight, a relationship, a better understanding of myself? When I look back, I realize that my greatest learnings were almost all born from my worst moments. This quote has become my compass in difficult times: as long as I am learning, I have lost nothing. I hope it accompanies you through your own storms.
